Registration Opens, Agenda Posted for Summer Meeting of Legislators from Gaming States, July 11-13 in Chicago

CHICAGO – The National Council of Legislations from Gaming States (NCLGS) today opened registration and posted its agenda for its Summer Meeting, which takes place July 11-13 at the newly refurbished InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile. The NCLGS Summer Meeting is scheduled to be the first major in-person US gaming-related conference in more than a year.

The agenda for the three-day NCLGS Winter Meeting includes:

  • Six legislative-chaired Committee sessions that will focus critical aspects of gaming, as follows:
    • Committee on Casinos: Representative Christie Carpino of Connecticut, NCLGS Officer
    • Committee on Emerging Forms of Gaming: Senator Jon Ford of Indiana, NCLGS Officer
    • Committee on Indian Gaming: Representative Georgene Louis of New Mexico, NCLGS Officer
    • Committee on Lotteries: Delegate Shawn Fluharty of West Virginia, NCLGS Officer
    • Committee on Pari-Mutuels: Senator Perry Thurston of Florida, NCLGS Vice President
    • Committee on Responsible Gaming: Senator Keith Pickard of Nevada, NCLGS President
  • Legal and regulatory general session led by the International Masters of Gaming Law
  • Morning and Luncheon keynote addresses
  • Two evening networking receptions

“Due the profound economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, state legislatures across the country are considering many different forms of gaming expansion as a way to generate incremental fiscal receipts,” said NCLGS President Keith Pickard, a Senator from Nevada. “NCLGS is committed to providing an outstanding forum for legislators and stakeholders to learn about, discuss and consider the possibilities and impacts of such expansion. We are also committed to producing a conference that is safe and comfortable for our attendees.”
